Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is a National Day of Service to honor Dr. King's commitment and contributions to the Civil Rights Movement and social justice. Join the Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning and people across the nation on as we serve our local community in Dr. King's memory.
The next Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service will be Saturday, January 20, 2018.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is 'What are you doing for others?'"
The MLK Jr. Day of Service is a part of United We Serve, the president's national call to service initiative. It calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems.
Join your fellow Illinois State students to volunteer January 20, 2018. Registration will open fall 2017.
If you are interested in hosting volunteers for MLK Jr. Day of Service, please contact the Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning at CommunityEngagement@IllinoisState.edu.
Faculty and staff volunteers are encouraged to participate in the day of service. You may volunteer and serve alongside the student participants, or you may help with logistics on the day of the event. This includes: participant check-in, driving University vans to sites, and other tasks as needed.
