Alternative Summer Break (ASuB) is a 2.5-week service trip in which participants travel to Kenya to support Living Positive Kenya, a local organization in Ngong Hills.
This trip focuses on several social issues like education, health, and HIV/AIDs. Learn to become a citizen of the world through strong direct service and reflection, and connect with other students who are looking to make a difference.
Students who are selected to serve on the trip participate in pre-trip meetings throughout academic year to help educate themselves on the language and culture of the community they will be serving.
Students will only be able to participate in ASuB once during their time at Illinois State, either as a student or as a Trip Leader, so that more people can enjoy this experience.
Cost: $2,400, all-inclusive. Charges will be billed on your student account.
Alternative Summer Break takes place in mid-late May. Students who graduate prior to the trip's departure cannot participate.
The application for ASuB 2020 will be available on the first day of classes in the fall. This trip fills quickly, so apply early.
